How much does mentorship cost?

Currently, we are offering mentorship in the group setting in a "pay what you can model."  Please review to each group pricing model in the "current offering" tab. At this time, the group cost ranges from $5 - $20 per group.

How many people are in the group?

At this time, our group cap is 20 persons per group. We do our best to have smaller groups by offering multiple times. However, some group times are more popular than others.

What if I can't make a week?

We understand that life happens. Our clinicians work hard to create weekly plans and practice for our sessions. In our experience, clinicians that are consistent get more out of the program. If you consistently miss more than one session a month, you may be at risk for losing your spot in the group.

Are there any group rules?

We follow general group rules which will be discussed prior to starting the group. We often revisit group norms, amend, and reinforce depending on the group's needs.

How is this different from supervision?

Our program focuses on community and skill development. While there may be some aspects that are similar to clinical supervision, our mentors do not provide this service in this setting. Supervision requires approval from the state boards, full access to the therapist's EHR system and notes, and other prohibitive factors that Luminary Therapy is not able to provide in this setting.

What is the process of joining?

Click the "join us" button below and fill out the request form linked. Make sure to use "Mentorship" in the subject line so we can prioritize these requests. Additionally, be sure to include a few time blocks that work for a short phone call. We will respond via email to confirm a meeting time or provide alternative times should our schedules not align.

Is there homework assigned?

This is highly dependent on group needs. Any homework assigned will be for your benefit. If you are unable to do it, no problem! We aren't here to judge or grade anyone. Rather, assignments may be rooted in self care, practicing a skill with a friend, or trying something new. As this is a general group, not every assignement or skill will make sense or work with your personal style. This is to be expected. Our goal is to have fun building this community and trying new things!

How long does the group last?

At this time, each group lasts ~3 months. Depending on group needs, this may extend by a few weeks (added workshops for those interested). Those who are consistent tend to get the most out of this program. Should this group not be a good fit for you, however, you are welcome to leave at any time.

Will you sign off on my clinical hours?

At this time, we do not offer this in the group mentorship program.

What is the focus of the group?

We focus on the implementation of trauma informed therapy. Regardless of niche or clinical interests, you will find that a large majority of your clients have either experienced some sort of trauma during their life or are presently experiencing complex stress patterns that interfere with their lives. Our program offers guidance for navigating this, building competencies in this area, and becoming more comfortable navigating boundaries and re-enactments.

You mentioned complmentary practices?

Yes! We employ a variety of techniques and understand the value of integrative care. Our primary lens is in somatic therapies. We do, however, incorporate concepts from other modes -- e.g. The Tao of Trauma (Alaine Duncan's work), Motivational Interview, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Socratic Dialogue, etc.

Can I invite a friend to join?

Absolutely! At this time, the group is only available for those working in the mental health field -- this includes therapists, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, case managers, social workers, coaches, addiction specialists, etc.
